Heavy Equipment Operator Training in New Jersey

New Jersey has dedicated many resources to training students how to be heavy equipment operators. This is indicative of a 5.4% rise in HEO employment, making over 5,100 job openings for construction equipment operators in the state.

New Jersey heavy equipment operators typically make over $60,000 annually in the field, with the highest wages being reported in Somerset ($71,655) and Hoboken ($70,351) to name a few.

The career center in Millville, NJ features vocational heavy equipment operator training for those looking to break into the earthmoving industry. This is an 8-week course that meets every Monday through Thursday. Their mission statement is to teach students to operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner. 

Machinery that students train on includes the bull dozer, the front-end loader, a backhoe, and a dump truck. Underground utility training is an integral part of the coursework as is the implementation of GPS for locations and elevations.

Members of the Local 825 include heavy equipment operators, mechanics, and surveyors. The union office located in Springfield, NJ offers training and apprenticeships for those looking to either further their career in these fields or start employment in one of these or other similar related construction jobs. 

The Local 825 has over 6,500 members in New Jersey and throughout the Southern parts of New York state.
